What is Moss Music?
Moss Music is an AI-powered random music generator that runs entirely in your browser. Roll the dice to instantly generate a complete instrumental piece, or chat with the AI agent to compose in a specific style and mood.
How does the randomness work?
Every piece is generated from a seed: the same seed with the same settings always produces exactly the same piece. Roll the dice to get a new random seed, or type any word you like — your name, a song title — to make it yours.
How does the AI agent work? Do I need an API key?
The AI agent controls composition through tools: it picks styles, keys, scales and tempos, generates pieces and starts playback on demand. You bring your own LLM API key (BYOK): open AI settings, add a provider, and you're ready to go.
What can I export?
You can export your piece as a standard MIDI file (with separate melody, chord and bass tracks), as a WAV audio render, or as JSON containing the full note data and seed for exact reproduction.
Where is my music stored? Is it private?
Everything is stored locally in your browser's IndexedDB — your pieces, settings and API keys never leave your machine. Audio playback uses bundled SoundFonts, so it works fully offline.
